Our SLH Pinot Noir hails from our Home Ranch vineyard. The primary clone selection was Pommard, but we also used three Dijon clones, the 667, 777, and 828. The wine was de-stemmed into small open top fermenters so it could be extracted through the traditional punch down technique which is the most
gentle and effective way to achieve balanced flavors. The wine was then drained to French
Oak barrels and aged for 15 months. A substantial portion of the barrels were new, which have the greatest impact on flavor. The wine is dusky red in color with medium density. The aromas are both complex and
subtle with mixed fruit followed by sub notes of earth and herbs. The textures are rounded and soft as the new oak barrels bring more of a confectionary tone as opposed to smokey.
